And by profession, he was an Indian Folk Singer and a Social Worker. Because he was born in Maharashtra so, he lived the major part of his life in Maharashtra. Shahir Vittal Umap won the 1st Prize at the International Folk Music and Art Festival at Cork, Ireland.

Shahir Vittal Umap had been an Indian Folk Singer and an Actor and a Social Work. So as an Indian Folk Singer in International Folk Music he had won 1st prize in it. He had also won 1st in Art Festival at Cork, Ireland.

As Actor he had played a role in Shyam Bengal’s TV series. And that series had got named “Bharat Ek Khoj” and Jabbar Patel’s film Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar. because of that He had been nominated for the best Actor’s Award for his performance in Marathi film Tingya.

Shahir Vittal Umap had frustrated and declared, that he had been fed up with making innumerable requests to the government. he said, “I don’t think that I will get the house in my lifetime”. And after that the Government provided him the house in Artist Quota.

Shahir Vitthal Singh had done or composed music for films and for Series and Dramas. Shahir Vitthal Singh had died while performing at the Function in Deekshabhoomi, Nagpur.
