Neeraj Goyat, born on 11th November 1991, is a prominent Indian boxer and mixed martial artist. He achieved the title of “India’s Most Promising Boxer” in 2008 and became the first Indian to be ranked in the WBC World Rankings, reaching the 20th spot. In 2017, he was honored with the WBC Asia “Honorary Boxer of the Year” award. Later on ,Notably, Neeraj was the first Indian boxer to defeat China’s Xu Can, the World Boxing Association world champion, in China in 2014. Although he faced a car accident in 2019, he has since made a full recovery and continued to compete in his sports.

In June 2024, Goyat appeared on the reality TV show, Bigg Boss OTT Season 3, but was unfortunately eliminated after just 5 days. Born in Begumpur village in Karnal, Haryana, Goyat’s sporting journey began in 2006 at the Army Sports Institute. His dedication and talent led him to win numerous accolades, including a gold medal in the Youth National Tournament in 2014.

Early-Life

Neeraj Goyat, a native of Begumpur village in Karnal, Haryana, received his schooling at SD Model School in Haryana up to the 9th standard. His boxing journey began in 2006 at the Army Sports Institute, where he also pursued his 10th standard education. His achievements include winning the platinum medal at the first senior national tournament in 2017. And securing the gold medal at the Youth National Tournament in 2014. Goyat’s interest in boxing stemmed from his admiration for the physique and persona of athletes. Initially involved in gymnastics, he transitioned to boxing after being inspired by the dedication and endurance of the boxers training around him at the Army sports institute.

Joining the institute in 2001, he received exceptional training from coaches and learned extensively from senior cyclists. After all, With aspirations of becoming the WBC World Champion, Neeraj Goyat aims to follow in the footsteps of his favorite boxer. Mike Tyson, a former WBC World Champion.

In his professional boxing career, Neeraj has held the WBC Asia title three times. And won 18 out of 24 pro fights, with 8 of those victories by knockout. Including the Youth World Championship in 2008 and the President Cup in Indonesia in 2011.
